THE MYSTERY OF THE "SELFSAME DAY" (Continued)
Joshua 5:11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched [corn] in the selfsame day.
Into the land! The manna ceased yet there is some hidden for the overcomer (Revelation 2:17). Manna means "what is it." That question is clearly answered in the land because there the Spirit reveals all truth. "This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever_John 6:58." The manna in the wilderness was a type of the True and the Hidden Manna is the Lord Himself!
Their diet changed to the fruit of the land. Parched corn is corn that is roasted with fire. In the Passover instructions the lamb had to be roasted with fire also. Our God is a consuming fire and that which He seals has His purging Touch. The bottom line is righteousness. All roads lead to righteousness. Israel’s entering into Canaan represents the maturing of the believer. The time came to go higher into realms of the Spirit, hence, the diet changes. They ate unleavened cakes and parched corn in the selfsame day. Leaven speaks to sin, and there is no sin in the Bread of Life. His Body is forming and as He is so are we in this present world according to 1 John 4:17. Parched corn requires one to chew a little longer before it is assimilated into the Body. The meat gets stronger the higher one ascends. "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil – Hebrews 5:14."
Bless you as you grow up into Him!
