BURIED TOGETHER WITH CHRIST
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the
glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are
risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who
hath raised him from the dead.
When something living dies and is buried, it ceases to exist and is removed from sight.
Consider this point both naturally and
spiritually. The phrase “buried with Him” is found only twice as
seen in the above Scriptures. Each time baptism is mentioned in connection with burial. That is because Christ Jesus completely cleansed us from our sins through His shed Blood
thereby removing the old man. Every believer is a new creation in Him. There is no baggage or residue from the fallen man in the new creature because that man was drawn into Jesus and was
crucified, he died and he was buried! The wages of sin were paid in full! There is no outstanding debt on the life of the believer. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by
the obedience of one shall many be made righteous_ Romans 5:19.
