THE END OF OUR ENEMY
People often focus more on the power of a defeated adversary than the grace of an all-powerful Victor, Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 John 3:8 reads, "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." It is difficult for many to transition from the mode of guilt and shame after conversion which is why the mind must be renewed. As it is written in First Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
David wrote in Psalm 63:9, "But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth." "Lower parts of the earth" means BENEATH US! Romans 16:20 declares, "And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen." When one hears the term "bruise" one usually pictures a contusion that will heal. That is not the case in this verse. To bruise here means to crush or break in pieces. Our adversary is given power in our minds through fear, doubt and unbelief, all of which are one and the same. Believe, speak and live what is true of every believer in Christ Jesus our Lord!
