CHRIST, THE ARMOR OF GOD
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].
Many teachings abound concerning the whole armor of God. Once many have an image of a Roman soldier fully clad in battle dress, they tend to feel empowered to deal with a spiritual enemy. They seemingly forget that the warfare is not with flesh and blood and wonder where God was when they made their valiant attempt to conquer spiritual wickedness in high places on their own only to cower in self and unbelief. Ephesians 6:11-18 outlines our victorious Lord Jesus Christ and each piece of armor is an aspect of His holy nature.
With Christ as our Armor (Covering), there can be no provision for the flesh. There is nothing carnal about our lives in the Spirit. By making provision for the flesh, lusts (the unsaved soul) will attempt to usurp all the power of the inner man, distracting the believer and making him most vulnerable. By living in the Spirit with Christ as our Armor, one will be full equipped to stand against the cunning devices of the devil. In Christ, the believer is in That which is immovable and cannot fall. 1 John 3: 8 declares, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."
