CHRIST, THE ARMOR OF GOD (Continued)
Ephesians 6:14... and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
The breastplate covers the part of the body from the neck to the navel, where the ribs end. Isaiah 59:17 reads in part, "For he put on righteousness as a breastplate..." The Apostle Paul explained to the Corinthians by the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ has been made unto us righteousness. _1 Corinthians 1:30. The breastplate covers the heart, a most important part. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. _Romans 10:10. The believer is able to stand firm when his heart believes unto Christ’s Full Essence and confesses Him as Lord. So shall he be saved from his enemies!
1 John 2:1 states, "...we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." Psalm 71:2 describes His righteousness as a means of deliverance, and assures that He will cause us to escape. Proverbs 12: 28 declares, "In the way of righteousness [is] life; and [in] the pathway [thereof there is] no death."
The prophet Jeremiah saw Christ’s Redemptive work and His people sharing His Name, Position and Power and prophesied, "In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this [is] his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS._Jeremiah 23:6. In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this [is the name] wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness. Jeremiah 33:16." Jesus Christ, our High Priest and Breastplate of Righteousness, has saved us and caused us to dwell safely within Himself.
