HE SHALL BE CALLED… (Continued)
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 11:1-7 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
The Mighty God! Our Lord is full of power and might. The Psalmist asked, "Who is this King of glory?" Then answered, "The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle"- Psalm 24:8). As His Body the Apostle Paul warns us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (2 Corinthians 10:4). Lovingly, the Apostle Paul assures us when he wrote to the Ephesians (1:19) saying, "And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power." Jesus declared that, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18). In John 1:12 it reads, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Meditate strongly on the fact and fully believe that He has given us power to become the sons of God!
The Apostle Paul was aware of the mighty power of the Resurrected Christ and prayed that believers would be strengthened with might in the inner man. Again, he prayed that believers would be "Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness…"(Colossians 1:11). This same mighty power raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and we are raised together with Him (Ephesians 2:6). "And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power– Corinthians 6:14)." As God delivered natural Israel from bondage with a mighty hand, so has He done for all through Christ Jesus our Lord. With the mighty power we have been given as sons and as a kingdom of priests, let us minister unto God and others in righteousness.
