Life or Death (Introduction)

In order to magnify what Jesus Christ has done for us and as us in His Redemptive Work, the next several wisdom entries are intended to capture Jesus’ response to death during His earthly ministry.  There are three recorded instances in which Jesus raised the dead.  Encapsulated in each miracle is a bounty for the hungry and thirsty pilgrim who can only be satisfied with the Bread of Life and Living Water that Christ is.  The spiritual inheritance in the Risen Christ is reaching out to every son.  The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.”

Reading: Romans 5:12-19 and Romans 6:23
5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death  passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no  law.
5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned  after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
5:15 But not as the offence, so also [is] the free gift. For if through the offence of one  many  be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, [which is] by one  man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
5:16 And not as [it was] by one that sinned, [so is] the gift: for the judgment [was] by one to condemnation, but the free gift [is] of many offences unto justification.
5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive  abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus  Christ.)
5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life.
5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of  one shall many be made righteous.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As plainly stated above in God’s holy Word, the first man, Adam, sinned thereby causing every man to be born in a state of spiritual death. Death came by sin.  Adam got paid the wages for sin and his seed after the natural reaped the effect of his disobedience.  Every human being that will ever be born into this world will enter fully equipped with Adam’s fallen nature.    Many are dead because of the offense of one!  Spiritual death or instant separation from God is the reward of Adam that his children inherit at birth.  It is written, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”_I Corinthians 15:22.  Praise God for Christ Jesus our Savior!  No one has to remain in a state of spiritual death because through Christ one can become born again or born from above, given new and eternal Life substance or His Nature, and equipped with His Power or His Holy Spirit.  We are thus presented with a choice between Life and death.
