RAHAB:  A PICTURE OF SALVATION OF THE SOUL (Continued)

Scripture Reading:  Joshua 6:1-21

In this battle, we live through the One Who goes forth conquering and to conquer.  As Paul the apostle stated, the life we now live in the flesh is by the faith of the Son of God.  This battle is totally on spiritual ground, and it has been won strictly on spiritual ground.  The Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil.   Jericho is the first place that must be conquered after crossing Jordan.  Remember, crossing Jordan represents our moving from death to life or the new birth.  Immediately following this powerful spiritual exchange, we are confronted with all that Jericho speaks to.  Before we examine the negatives let us be ever mindful of the positive.  Jericho is where Joshua met the Captain of the LORD’s host.  He is for us and not against us.  His sword is already drawn.  It will definitely divide asunder between soul and spirit.  This sword flames with the consuming fire of God and it is wielded through the preaching of the Cross.  Let us refresh ourselves on what Jericho represents.

Jericho was shut up because of the children of Israel.  No one could go out or come in.  This represents the magnitude of stronghold in which the adversary desires to entrap the believer.  Jericho is the place where flesh and carnality rule supreme.  It is the place where satan strengthens the flesh.  It is the place where opposition to Christ runs rampant.  I challenge every reader to examine all the things you have experienced in the past in what was being called ministry in the church and see how much of it is of fallen man, carnal and sensual, versus how much you have experienced that is of the resurrected Christ and full of power.   I pray your examination was as sobering as my own.  Flesh and blood are futile in the wake of this spiritual battle.  This battle requires complete obedience and submission to Jesus Christ and allowing Him to reveal what He has already done on our behalf by His Spirit.
