THE MYSTERY OF THE "SELFSAME DAY" (Continued)
The term selfsame day is used again when God ordered Moses to Mt. Nebo to view Canaan but not enter into it.
Deuteronomy 32: 48 And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying,
V49 Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
V50 And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
V51 Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of MeribahKadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.
V52 Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
The last few lessons have compared the use of the term "selfsame day" which is translated "bones" in Hebrew. A picture has emerged of how Christ Jesus is altogether lovely and not one of His Bones was broken. In this final note, we see the end of the Law of which Moses is a type. Once while preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.-Matthew 5:17." The One through Whom grace and truth came made it known that His kingdom operated in a higher law, the law of the spirit of life that is found only in Himself!
We would have not known sin but by the Law (Romans 7:7). The Lamb of God has taken away the sin of the world through His obedience unto death. He fully paid the wages of sin. The law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). Our "Canaan" which flows with milk and honey is our Lord, the Word and Christ revealed unto and within us. Law and grace were never meant to dwell together. Law is forbidden to come hither where we are in Christ, our Land!
