RAHAB: A PICTURE OF SALVATION OF THE SOUL (Continued)
Joshua 2:7 "And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate."
It is important here to recall our earlier definition of pursuit. The henchmen of the wicked one follow in order to overtake. Notice to what length the adversary will go to overtake the believer. Listen carefully and take heed. When you give your life to Christ, you had better mean business and be willing to trust God with your life from that point. The adversary is willing to pursue all the way to the fords of Jordan. Jordan speaks of that place where we pass from death to life. A ford is a place of crossing over. Can you hear it now?
The adversary will go all the way back to challenge our position in Christ. If you were sincere with God, you can be totally secure in knowing He was also serious with you. The Way is a Person and His Name is Jesus. Isaiah 35 describes Him perfectly. There is no ravenous beast there and even if one was a fool, it would be impossible to make a mistake in Him. We must be ever aware that our position is in Christ. A very real force is being addressed here and again, the Blood of Jesus is the only Way to defeat it. Human effort is null and void in this realm. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.
