APRIL 25TH
THREE-FOLD RESURRECTION (Continued)

It is hoped the reader recognized that of the three miracles of resurrection, Jairus’ daughter, this female child of twelve years, is the first.  She is a distinct picture of a soul yielding to the Power of God.  David referred to his soul as the feminine gender when he said, “My soul shall make her boast in the Lord”_Psalm 34:2.  Again, this is but the first step of a Spirit-guided journey unto full maturity as a saint of God.

Returning to the wilderness experience of the children of Israel (Numbers 21), we find the discouragement of the people caused them to speak against God and Moses and emphasize how their souls loathed God’s provision.  Every believer needs to be taught early how the only thing that awaits a fleshy preference is a serpent encounter.  The serpent was cursed to eat dust which flesh was made from.  God is not a cruel God.  He is a Perfect, Loving Father.  His only provision for flesh or dust is for the serpent to eat it.  The people did not want His spiritual provision (Manna) which pictured Christ and Life, so the only alternative was flesh and its sinful wages or death.  God sent flesh’s provision through fiery serpents which bit the people, and they died.

Our Heavenly Father is always moved by and lovingly responds to the truly repentant heart; therefore at their repentance and cry for Him to take away the fiery serpents, through Moses’ prayer, God sent His remedy to take away the death from among them.  The instructions were for Moses to make a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole. When everyone that was bitten looked upon it, he lived.  These events were types and shadows for our learning.  The truth of the matter is that we were born under this curse of death from the serpent’s bite.
Jesus Christ became that Serpent on a pole when he was lifted up on Calvary and fully identified with our sin nature. He was obedient to death, even the death of the Cross.  Realizing His Purpose of salvation would cause Him to be lifted up upon the Cross, He could proclaim, Talitha cumi!   Thank you, Jesus.

See why the Gospel must be a constant picture held up so mankind can live.  Preachers, what are you preaching?   Will it bring Life to those who look on what you are “lifting up” before them?  Money and other temporal things will not bring life for a look as the Gospel does.  Hold up the Serpent of Brass or the Redemptive Work of the Cross so all April see the judgment of this world and live.  Please do not allow the Power of the Gospel to become Nehushtan (2 Kings 18:4), an idol with no meaning and a mere piece of brass, for true meaning of the Serpent of Brass on a pole is the very Cross of Christ in type and is therefore our very Life.

Jesus said again in John 8: 28, “... When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.” Again in John 12: 32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.”  This verse was depicted when Jesus lifted Jairus’ little daughter by the hand.  Hallelujah!
