GLORYING IN THE CROSS OF CHRIST
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by
whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”_ Galatians 6:14
There is nothing wrong with glorying or boasting when it is done correctly. David left us a guideline for so doing when he stated that his soul shall make her boast in the Lord. In Hebrew language, to boast means to shine. The soul includes our mind, will, and emotions. What a praise that would go forth if the souls of men would show forth or display the Light of Christ our Lord! David went on to say, “the humble shall hear thereof and be glad (Psalm 34:2).” Only those with Christ’s very nature of humility can hear a true boast in the Lord. Such a one will be a testimony of His goodness and His nature.
Paul indicated the grounds for his glorying which is the Cross of Christ. The world had been crucified to him and he unto the world and that was made possible through the Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. The world speaks to all things earthly. Earthly things will never help us ascend to spiritual heights through the trail blazed through the Cross. The world is the “kosmos” or realm of all things finite. First Corinthians 15:48 reads, “As [is] the earthy such [are] they also that are earthy: and as [is] the heavenly, such [are] they also that are heavenly.” Praise God the world has been crucified unto us so that we do not have to be confined to the carnal ways of man. That is something mighty wonderful to boast about.
