HARNESSING THE POWER OF TEMPTATION (Continued)

Scripture Reading:  Luke 4: 5-8

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

In light of the above Scripture, it is now appropriate to introduce another.  For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world_1 John 2:16."  All the kingdoms of the world and the devil’s power at best will keep one in a perpetual carnal state.  God is Spirit and is to be worshipped in spirit and in truth.  It is impossible to serve God and mammon at once.  Today, many are ignorant of this point because so much of the world’s ways have infiltrated the Church.  Those who escape the lust of the flesh fall prey to the lust of the eyes.  Those who go beyond those often succumb to the pride of life.  It is often presented as helping others but at its core, it is yet carnality, and its "glory" is of the devil.

When done touting his best, the devil presented his bottom line,  "If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine."  Worship exudes from the heart.  It represents the essence of one’s very being.  Focus and purpose are embodied in worship, each of which has an object that should be God.  Jesus said, "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me._Matthew 15:8."  Sadly, many say they love the Lord but constantly seek the things of the world.  It is time to remind Satan that his position is in your past or behind you and to declare to him and yourself that God alone is to be worshipped and served.  When done with a pure heart, you are harnessing the power of temptation!
