"...proving that this is very Christ." _ Acts 9:22
"...proving that this is very Christ." _ Acts 9:22

APRIL 29th
THREE-FOLD RESURRECTION (Continued)

     Luke 7:14 “Young man, I say unto thee, arise.”  While the Master did not touch the young man’s body, He did touch that which speaks to the mind.  One of the Apostle Paul’s main concerns for the church at Corinth was that their minds might be corrupted from the simplicity in Christ.  He went on to warn that church that there is another gospel, another Jesus, and another spirit vying for our minds (II Corinthians 11:4).

     The only escape from the false is to be touched by the True.  This is why Jesus spoke to the young man and said arise.  The word arise here literally means to awake from sleep.  It is a different word than cumi which was used for Jairus’ daughter to arise.  Now that we have been lifted up to new life as children, as young men we have to wake out of sleep.  We have to wake up to all that is true of us in the risen Christ!  The preaching or teaching or speaking of the Gospel unto the young men contains the Power of God unto salvation.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

       It is time to wake out of sleep.  Let us see what Paul told the church at Ephesus about waking out of sleep.  Remember, Paul is addressing believers!
Ephesians 5: 13-21
5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for
whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is].
5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the
Spirit;
5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

      Young men are being clothed in Light.  They are putting on the Lord Jesus Christ!  Paul says the same thing in verse fourteen above as Jesus spoke to the corpse of the young man.  The above verses from Ephesians contain powerful instruction for the young men.  Romans 13:11-14 also serves as a “wake-up call” for this stage of spiritual growth and development.  It reads:  And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].  Our salvation is nearer than when we believed or were a child like Jairus’ daughter.  Let us go on to perfection!
