WHAT TIME IS IT?
Scripture Reading: II Kings Chapter 5
As Naaman was leaving, Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, followed him and took of the items sent by the Syrian king. His error is a clarion call to those seeking material gain (filthy lucre) under false pretense of the "Master’s request" and outright fleecing and lying to the people of God. Is it worth the unnecessary evil of it all? God’s word is stable and changes not. It is forever settled in heaven. As Elisha’s heart or his inner man or spirit went with Gehazi, so goes the Spirit of God go with His servants. Elisha asked Gehazi, "[Is it] a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?" This is the question to today?
Romans 13:11-14 explains the time profoundly.
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
