THE SIGNIFICANCE OF David’s MOVEMENTS WHILE ON THE RUN FROM SAUL – FOREST OF HARETH
Reading: 1 Samuel 22:5b Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
Hareth is a region of woods or forest in the mountain of Judah. It also means a thicket. From the heavenly perspective, David was in the Feast of Tabernacles of Ingathering. Naturally, Tabernacles was a feast where the Israelites made booths of the boughs of goodly trees to remind them of their deliverance from bondage. Spiritually, it is a feast of spiritual Israel as one in Christ. Genesis 49:10 secretly connects David’s coming to Judah and the forest of Hareth like so, “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.” Shiloh is the one whose right it is or the Lord Jesus Christ. This feast of booths or thicket is the fulfillment of all things in Christ of making His people a kingdom of priests unto God. Saul, the old order has passed away.
