RAHAB: A PICTURE OF SALVATION OF THE SOUL (Continued)
Joshua 2:8-14 "And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof; And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token: And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death. And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
She knows the "land" speaks to something and Someone so much higher than a local territory. Here we can clearly see that our spirits were totally saved at the new birth and our souls are being saved. Carnality knows it is no match for Christ. Darkness is instantly rebuked at the brightness of His appearing. When we get a revelation of Him, it is an appearing and the former darkness is rebuked because of the Light of Christ. Where does confusion go when understanding takes its place? So it is with darkness when Christ is revealed. Our minds must now be fully submitted to Christ as we spiritually don His Mind. The inhabitants of our old carnal mind faint because of the messengers of Christ. All mystery Babylon’s influence whether the false precepts embraced from false doctrines, the traditions of men, the lusts of the flesh, lust of the eyes, or the pride of life, must bow to the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Faith is being expressed by Rahab because she has heard about the greatness of the God of these messengers. It is critical that God’s people get His message instead of messengers themselves. Too much of that is happening today, and it is unproductive as far as the Kingdom is concerned. Notice their message became her message! She had heard about their deliverance (salvation) and how God did it. It was not by might or power but by His Spirit! This is another reason why we must preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the only thing that contains the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth (Romans 1:17). If we would just preach It, the Spirit will ensure the rest. Rahab’s faith increased so dramatically that she believed not only for her own salvation but that of her whole house. To the many who have given up because the enemy seemed so strong and the adversity so great, reclaim your families for God’s Kingdom. Just as with Rahab and the messengers of Joshua, enter into perfect agreement with God’s Word concerning this.
