THE SABBATH DAY HEALINGS OF JESUS OF NAZARETH (Continued)

HEALING OF PETER’S WIFE’S MOTHER (Continued)

Scripture Reading:  Luke 4:38-39

38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

Lastly, Luke’s Gospel portrays Christ’s ministry as that of the Son of Man. Although in Christ all are one and there is neither male nor female (Galatians 3:28), for teaching purposes the spirit is given the male gender. He that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit (I Corinthians 6:17). If the Body is going to be healed from this illness that is caused by the invasion of foreign substances, the woman must be in her rightful place. Therefore, Jesus stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her.

Our covering is not some other man or woman, but Christ Himself! The man is the head of the woman (I Corinthians 11:3-12). As the man speaks to the spirit so does the woman to the soul. The woman was created for the man which is why her head, speaking to the mind will and emotions, must be covered spiritually. "For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels." Angels are messengers! As seen earlier in this study, the fever was caused by foreign invaders which we now know to be false teachers. False teachers are messengers but unholy and unrighteous. Their error, no matter how well meant will not heal the church. The One Power over our heads is Christ through which no error will come. Allow Him to stand over us at all times, and He will rebuke disease of any king through the Power of His Spoken Word and it must leave! He was power over her and gave her life. "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him (John 17:2)." Again, the Divine result is immediate, and she arose and ministered unto them. She now pictures a ministry that is no longer dysfunctional or ordinary but with Resurrection Power.
