A CERTAIN RICH MAN (Continued)

Scripture Reading: Luke 12:16-21

16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Before leaving the matter of the soul and the crisis that arises when one takes life’s dictation from it, let us consider its place in the harlot system or Mystery Babylon described in the Revelation 18:1-14. Bottom line up front, the soul is a commodity in Babylon which speaks to confusion. The Scripture reads that Mystery Babylon merchandizes the souls of men as any other commodity and places the soul in Babylon in the same class as follows: "The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble and cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men (Revelation 18:12-13) (underline added for emphasis)." Can you imagine your soul being no more important that a commodity on the Dow or Nikkei exchanges? Perhaps the magnitude of the error of leaning to one’s own understanding becomes magnified at this point. It should behoove one to put on the mind of Christ.

Revelation Chapter 18 also describes what happened to confusion (Mystery Babylon) in one day. That One Day was the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. Confusion and all that stood between God and man were disintegrated that One Day. What needs to happen now is that a people learn what the Cross exacted for them. The soul alone will not allow one to do so because the Power of the Cross is spiritually discerned. Meditate on Ezekiel 18:4 and realize that all souls belong to God our Heavenly Father. The saved soul or renewed mind obeys the Spirit and is not consumed with carnal lusts. As Jesus taught, life is more than physical nourishment and the body is more than clothing (Luke 12:23). Hopefully the reading eye is wide open to the rich man’s error.
