THE FIRST VOW (Continued)
Scripture Reading: Genesis 28:20-22
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,
21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:
22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
The stone that was used for Jacob’s pillow was now anointed and set for a pillar. It is an awesome depiction of one going from a position of rest into resurrection life power, established and stood upright in Christ Jesus our Lord. The stone of rest Jacob now called God’s house. The Hebrew word for stone means to build.
In the New Covenant Peter, whose name means stone, acknowledged Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Peter recognized that Stone, the precious Cornerstone. Jesus said, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Jesus also told Peter that flesh and blood did not reveal it but His Father which is in heaven. One will precisely know Father’s house when one knows the Stone Who is also the Resurrection and the Life. When Christ goes from being our resting place to our very Life, one has come again to Father’s house.
