CHRIST, THE ARMOR OF GOD (Continued)
Ephesians 6:17... and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
A sword is an instrument for cutting, particularly flesh, and its primary use was in combat. In fact, its root meaning is to fight. As established, this is not a war with flesh and blood. The Spirit of Truth immediately supplies the spiritual meaning of the sword of the Spirit in the above Scripture to keep the believer’s mindset altogether spiritual. The Weapon in thought is the word of God. Hebrews 4:12 describes it as follows: "For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." One can clearly see a Sword above all swords. A living Sword! A powerful Sword! When the enemy attacks in the mind or the realm of the soul, this Sword separates all carnality from that which is Divine.
Of course, this Sword is none other than Christ Jesus our Lord, the Victor. In the Revelation, John saw our Lord in the Spirit clothed with a garment dipped in blood, and said His name is called The Word of God_ Revelation 19:13. The word of God is the transport of hearing by which faith comes. _Romans 10:17. According to First Timothy 2:9 the word of God cannot be bound. What then can the enemy to do? The Apostle Peter (1 Peter 1:23) proclaimed that we have been born again of incorruptible seed which is the same Word that Hebrews 1:3 declares framed the worlds. With the victory securely sealed in Christ, take (receive) the Word of God and live!
