LIVING BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Jesus quoted the above verse to the devil when he was tempted to command stones be turned to bread in the New Covenant. Jesus knew the power of His Words and as an obedient Son, He only took instructions from the Father. As believers learn to follow Jesus’s example and allow Him to be Lord of and in our lives, the hearing ear will be ever tuned to Father’s Voice and we can begin to live a powerful life in and by His Holy Spirit.

Exodus Chapter 16 outlines God’s promise of bread from heaven and instructions on how to use it. Verse 4 of the King James Version declares, "Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no." A most powerful term is used in this verse as a witness to the above verse from Deuteronomy. The term certain rate means to speak, declare or command and is translated "word" more than 800 times. The people were to gather the bread from heaven or word of God every day.

When Jesus instructed us on how to pray, those instructions included these words, "…Give us this day our daily bread…" It is a powerful prayer and as the reader prays it now, may all the Power of Its Words come alive in each heart.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
