HE SHALL BE CALLED… (Continued)

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Isaiah 11:1-7 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

     He shall be called…The Prince of Peace! In the early years of my ministry, God was and continues to be ever so loving in His dealings. I was in the military and about to be separated from my family for the second time. Additionally, my beloved mother had recently transitioned to glory, and furthermore, I was just ending a combat assignment and potentially entering another. It was a very difficult time for me. Despite the turmoil, everywhere I turned, people were telling me that God had a purpose for me. Of that fact I was sure. On the morning I was to leave home, I heard the Voice of God say to me, My peace I give unto you." Those Words sustained me in so many ways and during my separation, I met my future pastor, Gary Garner, through whose teaching my life would be changed forever. In hindsight, I was being set on an eternal and Divine course. Philippians 4:7 became alive within me through that experience as the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, kept my heart and mind through Christ Jesus!

     As believers, we can manifest the peaceful glory of Christ day by day. He taught in Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." As God’s children, with His love working in and through us, there is no reason we should not be able to demonstrate Christ’s Nature as seen by the Names He is called: "Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." In this present world His wondrous works, wise counsel, loving kindness, and peace should flow through His Body through the River that He is. As God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, His love should be continued through us, His sons and heirs.

     This study is ended with the counsel of I John 4:11-17. "Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world."
