A SPIRITUAL VIEW OF REDEMPTION (Continued)

ISAIAH 53: 4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

As already noted, Christ has redeemed us by His delivering Power, but our reckoning does not match His Act of Victory.  Herein is the reason many live powerless lives and believe that the victorious Life of Christ is only in our future and not for today.  We did esteem Him to be categorized in three ways: stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.   What is this actually saying?  Esteem means to figure or reckon Him to be.  Stricken means defeated; smitten of God means slayed or killed by God; and afflicted means put down.  Only the fallen man ends there!  This is why we can no longer know Christ Jesus according to the flesh (II Corinthians 5:16)!  Yes, Jesus took on and paid the wages of sin, but He rose again as the Firstborn of many brethren after the Spirit (Romans 8:29)!  In Christ, we are no longer defeated, dead, or put down; therefore, yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead! (Romans 6:13).
