THE ROCK THAT IS HIGHER
Scripture: Psalm 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
When reading the Psalms of David, it is most evident that he fully understood the refuge that God Himself afforded in the time of trouble. David’s intimacy with God led to his use of such terms such as hiding place, covert, high tower, fortress, Rock of salvation, deliverer and many others. One can see God’s faithfulness in the witness David provides. Further one can see David’s faith in God by his recognition that the Rock is higher than himself. He gave God the Preeminence that He deserves.
Christ Jesus is our Rock. The Apostle Paul explained to the church at Ephesus how the Father of glory wrought His mighty work in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:20-23). Our Lord is "Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Jesus Christ is the Rock that is higher. Look to Him today and always.
