THE SIGNIFICANCE OF David’s MOVEMENTS WHILE ON THE RUN FROM SAUL – MIZPEH
READING: 1 Samuel 22:3-4 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me. And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.
Mizpeh means watch tower. David secured a place for his father and mother while himself totally at the mercy of God. Spiritually speaking, David has no heritage but eternal spirit at this point while navigating his earthly life. To the sharpened spiritual eye, Melchizedek appears. Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. From this point on all is accomplished through the Power of an endless life.
Actually, from Adullam, this priesthood emerges Adullam was a cave meaning made naked. Again, Adullam means justice of the people. The Hebrew word for justice is tsedeq which is part of Melchizedek’s Name. Nothing earthy entered this justice or righteousness. Hebrews further declares of Melchizedek, “… first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace.”
