CHRIST, THE ARMOR OF GOD (Continued)
Ephesians 6: 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Strong’s Concordance defines the word wrestle as a contest between two in which each endeavours to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to hold his opponent down with his hand upon his neck. The neck speaks to the will. It is easy to recall how the LORD referred to Israel as a stiff-necked people when they disobeyed His commands. Think of the strait of having the enemy of God in a position to possess the believer’s will. Going further with such a perilous thought, consider an enemy that one’s natural senses and ability would fail him entirely to overthrow.
As alarming as they may seem and with all the clout they seem to hold in the realm of darkness, the works of principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places have been destroyed by Christ Jesus. Christ is Light and light rebukes darkness. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:12, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." Like Caleb, believers in Christ are of another spirit! In Him, we are not powerlessly exposed to the realm of the enemy. The mind has to be transformed to the spiritual fact that there is a life that is higher and refuse to cede any territory to the enemy whatsoever. The believer has to take unto himself the whole armor of God which will enable him to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand. –Ephesians 6:13
